FREE Song of the Day: Phresh2Def - "Fantasy Girl"

Phresh2Def Studios

Fantasy Girl

We run into great music contacts on Twitter. This submission is yet another example of how social networking has been a positive movement for us. We recently had the pleasure of meeting Richard and Dre from Phresh2Def Studios. They have since stepped up to sponsor our "Open MIC Thursday" show here in Tampa. Thanks, fellas! We were excited to receive a track in a recent email correspondance. "Fantasy Girl" is a smooth, laid back track that sings the praises of our world famous gentleman's clubs, a la Wyclef Jean's "Stripper Song". The tune is super flirty and playful with a catchy hook. We hope you enjoy and share.

FREE Song of the Day: Felsite - "Living On Borrowed Time"

Felsite

Living On Borrowed Time

Felsite was born in October 2008, from the union of Steve Small and Jeff Davis, who met on IndabaMusic, a music collaboration website. They liked each others’ approach and began working exclusively together, and soon formed Felsite - named after a type of rock formed from two different crystals.

Steve comes from a Techno/Electronica background, while Jeff played guitar and bass in various bands before moving more towards sequencing and mixing. They quickly agreed that, whatever musical styles they were to explore, at the heart of their songs would be strong pop sensibilities, killer hooks, and to-die-for choruses.

The internet is their chief modus operandi, building songs by posting tracks on Indaba, adding to and improving them, then posting the result back up for the other to work on. In this way, songs have evolved with the full participation of both members.

The band have a heavy presence on MySpace and Twitter as well as being well known as highly active members of the Indaba community. In this way they use the internet to spread the word about the band’s progress and invite people to share their excitement.

This use of technology is partly driven by necessity. The pair live almost two hundred miles apart and have only physically met twice! This geographical separation has been no impediment to the band's development, and may even have spurred on the creative process, as their songwriting seems to be growing stronger and more confident with each new track.

"We're Living On Borrowed Time" is Felsite's newest track of three that have been created since the release of their debut album, "Silence Is A Virtuous Thing", which is available for download from iTunes and other reputable download sites. Enjoy. Share.

FREE Song of the Day: Hillz - "Get Money"

Hillz

Get Money

Born in Philly [ German Town, Chester ], Hillz grew to love Hiphop for what it was at the time: raw, creative, and inspiring. As a teen, he moved to Orlando, FL with his mother where he was introduced to a whole new culture. No more fronts. Instead, he encountered permanent grillz, candy paint, and a different love for the hustle that was similar to the blocks of Philly, yet different somehow. At the age of 20, he moved to Atlanta to further chase the musical dream. There he watched the birth of "Crunk", and really saw the creative process of the likes of Outkast and the Dungeon Family. He was influenced by such acts as Pastor Troy and Yin-Yang Twins. A few years later, he moved back to Orlando, and with the energy of NT on his music, along with beats being produced by XP, an instructor at FullSail Production and Film School, he started working on tracks. Check out "Get Money", produced by Godzillest & co-produced by JHot & Ray Lavender (Konvict Muzik). When asked to provide a small quote for today's FSOTD, he submitted the following:

" In life, some people WATCH movements, some HELP movements, and some DESIGN, INSPIRE, and CREATE movements. Be a part of something new, something special. Support an ARTIST and a  MOVEMENT that you can believe in. "
